My Ultimate Pet Guide (Introduction)

Amy: "OH ****." x_x
So you've gotten your kaiser roll handed to you by a really tough boss in Wizard101 and want revenge, but you know you can't grind your level like in Pokemon because the boss is part of a main quest (like the Jabberwock) and you've reached the limit of your gear and magic. What now?

Get a pet!

Pets were introduced in the game, but once the Pet Pavilion was introduced, pets have become part of a Wizard's gear, like his hat, robes, boots and wand and deck case. This guide is all the research I have done while making my Jade Pets(aka the pets which let Ethan Jadeshade tank anything once he gets his Jade Gear) and will guide you in making that pet you so want.

First off, let me make a disclaimer. This is my opinion and I've done a lot of research on the sites known as Duelist101 and Wizard101 Central. I, in no way, am saying this is the end-all-be-all guide to pet raising, this is just stuff I learned which has helped me out. I've struggled with pets for the two years I was playing Wizard101 and never used healing pets before, I just stuck with the ones I got from game cards until I found out these helpful tips. These people are the real experts. If you have any tips, feel free to leave a comment on the blog.

Anyways, let me begin this guide with a very important lesson for those who have just opened up the Pet Pavilion...

Part 00: Don't Fret Over Pets! (Yet)

While that Stray Piggle you got from Merle Ambrose or that Myth Sprite you might have gotten a lucky drop from Rattlebones isn't doing you any good except for decoration on your wizard without pet training, the pets which give you nothing but spell cards into your deck aren't bad. The $10 Gamestop Wizard101 piggles give pretty decent cards like Unicorn, Infallible and whatnot, which are useful up to Mooshu. You don't need a speciality pet with talents until Mooshu because the enemies in Wizard City, Krokotopia and Marleybone (except those in the optional dungeons like Sunken City) aren't tough at all and have no more than 2500 HP for bosses and 700 HP for normal enemies. (I apologize if I use HP for the term for health - I am an old-school RPG fan.)

Like Elsa sings in Disney's Frozen, "let it go." Don't try training pets (except if you want to jump train, more on that in the advanced lessons) - The Pet Pavilion is only for those who have a lot of money(which you won't have until Mooshu because the enemy gear drops in the first three worlds sell for very little even in the Bazaar), a lot of energy(which you won't have - Wizards at Level 7, which is when you get access to the Pet Pavilion, have only 42 energy, enough to train a baby pet 21 times) and a lot of great pet snacks(which cost money since they won't drop from enemies until Azteca and the Mega Snacks are rare drops from difficult bosses).

Until you get to Dragonspyre, where bosses sport over 3000 HP, focus on your gear and training points - if you can beat Ares in Mt. Olympus, you'll get a wand that gives a power pip at the start of battle and a boost of 10% to damage, which is perfect for Mooshu and Dragonspyre battles. With the right gear(the Senator's Gear from Mt. Olympus is really going to help you until you get the Waterworks unlocked), you will be okay until you defeat Malistaire and get to Celestia...

Oh, already defeated Malistaire the Living in Great Spyre and now need to deal with the unfair enemies in Wintertusk and Celestia? You've come to the right place! Next update, I'll give you the guide to getting the hardware you need to get speed-training your pets, aka the Mega Snacks. Cheers! ^_^

(My apologies for not updating the pet guide, I am busy in Khrysalis and won't have time to update yet. I have half of part one written already.)

What's This? (A Renewal)

I decided that I didn't want to bog down my main Wizard101 blog(The Frugal Conjurer) with a ton of tutorials, so I decided that this blog will now be redirected to be personal experience guides for crafting, gardening and whatnot. I won't be going over too many crazy things, just minor stuff like the best place to find reagants. Ciao!

The Final Post of this Blog and Christina's fate

Don't you just HATE it when you have to reinstall Wizard101?
I have decided to put this blog in indefinite hiatus. It's not because I don't want to update, it's just...

Well...

I'm already having Christina quest with Sierra Fairyfriend on my other account so you'll see Christina more on The Tightwad Conjurer, which I am more focused on. This blog really wasn't going anywhere (I had accidentally skipped parts - like Christina's travels through Wizard City) and I feel like it would be best if I just put this blog on lock-down. I'm not deleting it - you can still read the older posts - but Christina's journey to Exalted Status is now entwined with Sierra's story, so it would be pointless to tell the story twice. Right now she is traveling through Wintertusk with Sierra and Grace and then we'll start the second arc.

I appreciate everyone who viewed this blog and suggest you go read the posts from the beginning of Sierra's story in The Tightwad Conjurer. Cheers! ^_^

Part 10: More Dragon Jokes

Christina: "Nope, not fishing! I have work to do. And my fishing luck stinks." :(

The journey continues! I have been working on the Tightwad Conjurer, but I am working on Christina Dawnblade too. Here's what's happening at the ran-- I mean, Spiral.

Christina: "GET OUT OF HERE, BLUE HAIR! THIS IS MY SPOT!!!" *grumbles* "Stinking Amy Mistcloud..."
Christina: "Yikes! I hope I don't have to fight that thing..." *spoilers, you do* "WAAAAAH!!!"

Christina completed the Tower Archives easily and then got through the Plaza, after I decided to give her some help...

Mindy is the girl in the purple hat.
Mindy: "Good doggie!" ^_^

Namely, my non-frugal Myth Wizard, Mindy Goldheart, based off of Sailor Venus. I didn't have anyone close in level to Christina on my other accounts except Amber Rainbow and I needed to give some of the wizards on my main account some love. (Not THAT love, you gutter-brains! I'm a guy but I don't make female wizards to perv over them! o_o)

Sadly, Mindy doesn't have ninja pigs, she's stuck with Orthrus, but she's much higher level. (In the fact that she HAS Orthrus.)

Christina: "And we're done here. Stupid clockworks messing my style."
I had her solo Archive 13, though -- which ended up badly as the second group of gearheads razzed her with Stormzilla and Kraken. :( Luckily, Dungeon Recall works on these towers too so she didn't have to redo every battle.

[I apologize, I didn't realize I had not finished this part, so no pics here.]

After Mindy and Christina's Excellent Adventure and a fight with the now-dead Vasik, we finished up the Great Chasm and did the tomb of Sylvia. Unlike Blue, I did all of the sidequests so it took a bit longer, but it was worth it.

Amy Mistcloud got pressed into service to help Christina complete the sidequest for Great Chasm. She one-shot everything with her double bladed Blizzard. ^_^

Part 12: Finally! The First Arc, Done and Dusted!

(Things are going a tad slow for Christina as life intervenes but I swore I'd see this through so enjoy the next update, which basically cleans up Dragonspyre in several brief summaries. This world is boring, the music is boring, and Malistaire needed to drop the Grandmaster tunic. :( )

I am finally glad to say I am through with Dragonspyre for Christina. She's been showing up more and more in Sierra's blog because I found that she's only two levels higher than Sierra(and Grace later) so I decided these three will be working together to reach Khrysalis and become Exalted. ^_^

She, Sierra and Grace are the first wizards to complete the Spiral Cup Gauntlet... although they got their Aspens handed to them by Barbarous because of that Balanceblade spam cheat and I had Grace with her boss deck which wouldn't help. It sucks having to flee from a boss battle with everyone.

Amy Mistcloud helped her rush through the Forum and get that Battledrake to the ready and we left.
I wanted to wait until Grace and Sierra finished Dragonspyre but I was getting antsy and wanted to get Mal cloaks. Good news - Amber Rainbow FINALLY has her Grandmaster cloak. Bad news, Christina only got the Life cloak and I wasted all my crowns in the Second Chance Chest and got nothing but 1 crown to my name (on all my accounts! Ouch!) and a ton of Purgatory Cloaks and Iceflame Tunics. ;_;

Dang you, Mal, even in death you give me the middle finger.

(Sadly, I have no photos of the Great Spyre as I was busy watching Zenmaster Blue get through the place to take notice. You'll see her go through the place again on Sierra's blog. I suggest you check out the Tightwad Conjurer, I'm a good writer there.)

At least I managed to stitch some nice clothes and a hairstyle hat to Christina before I lost everything. And now I can't get more crowns unless I pawn my second PS3 or hopefully get a job. UGH!

All bad things aside, Christina helped Grace and Sierra finish up Grizzleheim so we could get them to Wintertusk. Well, that's it for DS! Next update is Wintertusk, ciao for now! ^_^

(Oh yeah, Christina's stats - she's is now Level 54 and due for training points. I just need to get her through Briskbreeze and the Celestial Warehouse. Yeeeehaaa, fun times. X_X)

Part 11: Are we there yet?

Yes, I didn't update recently and you missed a lot of stuff, so I feel bad. But then again, since Christina has been showing up in the Tightwad Conjurer as a character, I don't feel too bad about it.

This character is questing about the same time as Zenmaster Blue puts out his full game walkthrough videos. I will reduce each post to short summaries with illustrations to save bandwidth because I am focusing mostly on the storytelling of the Tightwad Conjurer. I am not abandoning the chronicles here as I want to talk about my favorite wizards on my files. So enjoy this update!

Christina: "Uh, don't wizards do that sort of thing?" 9_9
Christina: "Oops! I knew I should have taken the left fork from Marleybone!" (Bug Bunny reference FTW!)
Christina: "YO! OUT OF THE CAMERA, HOODIE!!!" :( (Wow, that was AMAZING timing, catching someone's closeup!)
Christina: "Okay, I know this is a place which worships dragons but... still..." X_X

After getting Power Nova, Christina went through the Plaza of Conquests and Grand Chasm pretty well, tackling all the sidequests too. This took moons as the sidequests have a lot of battling in them, but she managed to hit Grandmaster after helping Sunbrand save his ghostly kin, which meant...

Yeah, I don't have the right screenshot for this, sorry. :(

Yep, time for a sneaking into Celestia to get her first Sun spell! ^_^

Christina: "Trick me once, shame on me, trick me twice..."

She also finished the Labyrinth with Amy Mistcloud's help(and the imposter Zenmaster Blue, but hey, she didn't know that anyone could pretend to be the TRUE Ethan Mythblade); she also got a pet egg(Boss Banshee) from the Dean, how neat is that? Greaaat, now I'm channeling Ina Garten...

Christina: "BRB."
Amy: "Thank goodness, I need a shower after doing the Whirling Dervish dance in this heckhole!"
Christina: "Have smelly-butt Gobblers in your pantry? Use STRONG VAMPIRE!" ^_^

She also got a little ahead of Blue, getting all the Obsidian Chests (thanks to the Real Lou for pointing out in the walkthrough that you should have a character camp in the Dean's prison until you get the quest to get the dragon rider staff pieces and just port in to avoid having to fight all those first bosses again; Amy was the camper ^_^) and getting into the Crystal Grove and getting to work on some side-quests. I can't wait for Blue to start Wintertusk as Christina will be following him in - Amber Rainbow and Chris Storyteller on my first sub-account have already entered Hrundle Fjord.

Ciao for now!

Part 9: Dragon My Feet Here...

(My apologies for not updating this blog sooner - I tend to wait until Blue does his walk-through and he's finishing up Grizzleheim as of now, so this is a very short update.)

Disclaimers: I don't own the pictures here. They were Googled for.

Christina: "Eat gas, Jotun!" :p
Christina: "Time to die, Coven! Bwa ha ha!!!" (Mord and Munin survived the first onslauht.)
You may wonder why I didn't do a Grizzleheim title card. Well, I just did the various parts of Grizz during my other travels, so Christina completed the last parts of Grizzleheim - Nidavellir and Ravenscar - on her own time during Dragonspyre. I had to get some help for Nidavellir as only one person was able to join her on the quest to defeat Jotun. :(

First thing she did was defeat Cyrus and get access to the Atheneum and then deal with the Loremaster so she could get that done. (She is trying to get all the Lore Spells crafted instead after having a failure run with Koto.) Dragonspyre's Basilica is the best place to fill up on mana and health after a tough battle. ^_^

Also, if you've read my tales of the Tightwad Conjurer, you can see she also completed the Winterbane Hall gauntlet, which was difficult - she had to flee a few times - but not impossible. She ended up wasting 400 crowns on a Level 100 henchman to survive against the ice dragon final boss... who healed Sierra instead of her. I do plan on doing the Midnight Pagoda and, hopefully, the new Spiral Cup Gauntlet that has come out.

Christina: "Don't look at me like fresh meat, Zarathrax - I have two mean metal men manning my cart and they could vaporize you with a mean look if they wanted." :p
But she got frustrated and completed the Tower Archives part of Dragonspyre ahead of time. The quests there were a struggle. I can see why Zenmaster Blue doesn't like this world much. Neither does Christina or me. ;_;

Christina: "Let me get this straight, Al... I had to cheat my way to get a magic crystal, then re-defeat the Plague Oni, and create this work of art... and you want me to destroy it? You're a crazy old fool..."
Christina: "Then again, I'm a crazy young fool for taking this school of magic! It's just money!" *SMASH*
*cackles insanely*

However, I did manage to get her to Level 48 and got Power Nova, thanks to a little help from Amber Rainbow on my other account - spell quests that expect you to travel to the middle of a world are moot when you have wizards who completed that world. ^_^ It really helped with Ravenscar and it helped when she helped Amber get through Hrundle Fjord (so Amber could help Sierra grow her Evil Magma Peas by farming for drops) and Austrilund.

NEWS FLASH!!!! FISHING?!!?

(Newsreel music)

We interrupt your usual blog to bring you THIS special report.

"This is Master Sun Serpent, Caster of the News in the Spiral. This is a special report. NEWS FLASH!!! A new activity has been spreading like wildfire..."

"Oops, sorry. Can't help myself. *cough* Anyways, to give the details, we head to our roving reporter in the Commons, Chris Icedreamer. Take it away!"

"Thank you, Master SS. This is BIG news! Thanks to the recent defeat of Morganthe in Khrysalis, a power flux has produced strange effects all over the Spiral, mainly in Wizard City... namely..."

"Fish? That's right, folks. Fish have come to rest in the waters of the Spiral and every wizard worth his salt is swapping their wands for fishing poles and fly-fishing like the second coming of Xilbalba! A pelican from Skull Island, Lure Fisherhook, is said to be coming to Wizard City to help out the new fisher-wizards and give them something worth their catch! We don't know when he's arriving, but when he does, you can bet your booty(yar!) that wizards who are growing tired of gardening and crafting will bite the hook(rimshot) on this event! Back to you, Master SS!"

"Thank you, Chris. Right now we don't know when the fishing will be legalized. Ambrose had this to say: 'Oh my, not ANOTHER time-wasting activity! I know Malistaire and Morganthe are gone but the students shouldn't slack on their training!' And that's all he said about the matter. We'll give more details as things develop. That's all for now, we return you to your regularly scheduled blog." (Newsreel music)

(It's my, Raltsmaster. The Test Realm is up for Wizard101 this month and you probably guess what was in it - the new Fishing activity! Yep, you thought Gardening and Crafting were it? YOU THOUGHT WRONG! HA HA HA! ^_^ Go check out Blaze Lifehammer's video in this link to see the process you go through to do it. This will be a fun update when it hits live realm. Sadly, I cannot do test realm as only paying members who bought stuff online can go there. :( )

Part 8: Getting rid of the elephant demons one at a time

The title card has been reduced in size to reduce bandwidth.

You may be wondering what these screenies are doing here. Well, Christina had that niggling desire to visit Kensington Park but I was wary because the clockworks there are very nasty, with over 1900 HP, but I broke down and did it. Luckily, a fellow wizard aided her - Christina did get pulled once but other than that, she managed to get through and take out both Stokers with only one potion. Kensington Park is boring and not fun so I spared everyone the agony of seeing all the fights. ;)

After all, this is about Mooshu, and Christina managed to get through the rest of Kishibe Village fine and dandy. She also got a group of wizards(Jennifer Stormhunter and Kane Forge, both Diviners, and Caleb Deathsword the Necromancer) to help her in this terrible place. She also got pulled and then warped into a battle which Jennifer got pulled into. Ugh! Luckily, they managed to reach the second boss without missing the fight. The Plague Oni crumpled before the might of Kane's Triton spell. ^_^

(Also, if you haven't seen it before, that's the Hydra spell in the first shot - Christina got to Level 43 and learned her last spell from Alhazred, Hydra. It's pretty decent against Balance enemies.)

With that out of the way, it was time to complete the last section of Mooshu before the final boss, so off to Yoshihito Temple Christina went and then to the Burial Grounds... and she got pulled into battle with ghosts AND Gloom Fairies. *sigh* This wasn't her day. :/

But at least she completed all the side-questing there and got the Green and Grey kimonos. (The red one is a rare drop and the yellow she yoinked from the Jade Palace - I need to go and hunt down the rest of the hidden housing items. YOLO.)

Christina: "You know what..."
Christina: "You're a joke." :p

The evil spirit who had the Spirit Cage was quickly defeated... this was an eight-pip Judge with set-up - Feint is really OP right now but we'll be eating our words come Celestia when the bosses have over 10000 HP.

Postcard photo from Mooshu. ^_^
Christina: "You really need a girlfriend." ;p
Then to the Village of Sorrow, and I wasted two days on The Sims 3 instead of playing this game so I felt bad and decided to just finish Mooshu and get to Dragonspyre today instead of waiting for Z.Blue to get his next episode up. (He'll be doing Grizz anyways and I already completed 80% of it already.)

Christina: "You forced my hand, you ugly tree freaks!"
Christina: "Didn't hurt!"
There was one side-quest I hated - the killing of those Befouled Woodwalkers - they spammed Weakness, Spirit Armor and Sprite so I screwed it and double-boxed with my Necromancer Amber Rainbow to help with the annoying Spirit Armors. Scarecrow laughs at Spirit Armor. 6_^

Then Oyotomi was taken down even though he surprised Christina with a Weakness JUST after the first Hydra. No Judge but two Hydras took this jerk down.

Christina: "Shut up and do your voodoo before I make you into a rope and swing across."

Oh yeah, there's the last Spirit side-quest but who cares?
Christina: "You again? You're like a dang rash, Austin Bluecoin!" :(

Finally, the Tree of Life. It's a joke - you only need to fight one boss before the Death Oni, so Amber helped Christina take out everyone, including the Yakety Imp to get the Sword Saint badge(which Christina is never wearing - she will only wear the Crafting badges) and we got the Zeke quest down for this world. I am probably going to save up for Tower Shield because I don't like double-carding Elemental AND Spirit Shield.

Christina: "Uhm... never mind..." O_O

B-bye, Oni No Death. :p

B-bye, Oni No Jade. :p

Austin Bluecoin obliterated the enemies. We also collected the books and oysters for the side-quests there and got the gifts from Oakheart, Mossback and Wavebringer, completing Mooshu 100%.

Christina: "I'm four levels away from Grandmaster, Cy. Don't judge me."

Now for Dragonspyre...
